Why Consider Flood Insurance

A Flood Insurance Update

We have just been through record flooding, and unfortunately, many people were caught without flood insurance.  Now that the weather has settled down a bit, we thought it would be a good idea to encourage everyone to consider flood insurance.  A great resource for you is Floodsmart.gov.

Flood insurance is excluded from your homeowners or renter’s insurance.  The last thing you want to have is three feet of water in your living room, and have no flood insurance.

They say that flooding is the most common type of natural disaster in the United States.  You do not have to be close to water to have a flood.  However, if you live close to water, the Federal Government requires you to have flood insurance if you want any recovery help.

Flood Facts

  • Floods are the most common kind of disaster.
  • Flood insurance can pay regardless of whether or not there is a Presidential Disaster Declaration.
  • Over 20% of flood claims come from properties outside of high-risk areas.
  • FEMA offers grants and other help to those who are in the National Flood Insurance Program.

Flood insurance can be purchased through our agency.  We can help you manage the FEMA flood program and get you covered.
